Talking bout my God, and my life that’s lived for Him.

This almost sounds almost as bad as a Jerry Springer show….

Dinah and the Shechemites

1 Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land. 2 When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and violated her. 3 His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke tenderly to her. 4 And Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Get me this girl as my wife.”
5 When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he kept quiet about it until they came home.
6 Then Shechem’s father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob. 7 Now Jacob’s sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had done a disgraceful thing in [1] Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter-a thing that should not be done.
8 But Hamor said to them, “My son Shechem has his heart set on your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife. 9 Intermarry with us; give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves. 10 You can settle among us; the land is open to you. Live in it, trade [2] in it, and acquire property in it.”
11 Then Shechem said to Dinah’s father and brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and I will give you whatever you ask. 12 Make the price for the bride and the gift I am to bring as great as you like, and I’ll pay whatever you ask me. Only give me the girl as my wife.”
13 Because their sister Dinah had been defiled, Jacob’s sons replied deceitfully as they spoke to Shechem and his father Hamor. 14 They said to them, “We can’t do such a thing; we can’t give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us. 15 We will give our consent to you on one condition only: that you become like us by circumcising all your males. 16 Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We’ll settle among you and become one people with you. 17 But if you will not agree to be circumcised, we’ll take our sister [3] and go.”
18 Their proposal seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem. 19 The young man, who was the most honored of all his father’s household, lost no time in doing what they said, because he was delighted with Jacob’s daughter. 20 So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city to speak to their fellow townsmen. 21 “These men are friendly toward us,” they said. “Let them live in our land and trade in it; the land has plenty of room for them. We can marry their daughters and they can marry ours. 22 But the men will consent to live with us as one people only on the condition that our males be circumcised, as they themselves are. 23 Won’t their livestock, their property and all their other animals become ours? So let us give our consent to them, and they will settle among us.”
24 All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised.
25 Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male. 26 They put Hamor and his son Shechem to the sword and took Dinah from Shechem’s house and left. 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the dead bodies and looted the city where [4] their sister had been defiled. 28 They seized their flocks and herds and donkeys and everything else of theirs in the city and out in the fields. 29 They carried off all their wealth and all their women and children, taking as plunder everything in the houses.
30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble on me by making me a stench to the Canaanites and Perizzites, the people living in this land. We are few in number, and if they join forces against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed.”
31 But they replied, “Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?”

New Printer, Weekend Report

Well, lesse what’s new. I bought a new printer last week. It’s a nice new color printer by HP, model 845c (lol, sounds like a Taylor Guitar model! hahahaha, ok…I’m just weird now). Anyways, I got it for just 64$ shipped!! Amazing huh? Check out www.slickdeals.net for the latest deals on things (that’s where I got that printer, as well as my 17 cases of soda for 37$ shipped, hahaha).

Well the teams from Evangel and NorthWest came in over the weekend, mostly on Saturday. Ango actually came home on Friday night (well Saturday morning, at 2am), and the NorthWest people came in Saturday at around 6:20. I got to meet some of them at Pastor Kevin’s house and drive two of them out to Lily Dea’s (who lives in the bottom part of Phil and Nancy Wong’s house).

It’s been a long while since I’ve been out there, and boy, it sure took me a little bit to remember how to get out there. I kept turning on the wrong streets. Well, I finally made it there, and they got settled and stuff, and I drove Pablo back. I forgot my Guitar at PK’s (Pastor Kevin’s) so I made my way back out there, and found out that Evangel’s team had ALL of their luggage delayed till 10:40. I knew that PK and PSlim (Pastor Sanrda Lim, aka Slim, aka PSlim…yeah….) were pretty tired, so I offered to help Cliff pick up the luggage. We went over there and man, it was so frustrating. The lame “Rent-a-Cops” were around, or I guess maybe they’re just traffic control or something, but anyways, Cliff and I were parked there, and IN the car, yet they still told us to go around. So we went around about 3 times, and finally Cliff went into the short-term parking. We went to go look for the other guys who came with us (Greg and Scott) and got the bags and headed back. Now this was the interesting part. Trying to fit 18 people’s bags and sleeping bags into two cars. Cliff was driving the rental van (It’s a Windstar) and I have my accord. LOL. It was pretty funny. Really entertaining really. To see us moving each bag over to a different car, depending on where they lived (Cliff dropped off to 3 houses, since they were close, I just dropped them off at church in the morning). We were so realived when all the bags fit. ahhhh. =P

So anyways, the skits and human videos they did were great today. I hope to see them again on Wednesday, as well as at the park. I’ve seen Cliff do that one called Anchor before, but I forgot where at, but it was actually at our church, and the other person in it was Evelyn! I forgot how good Eve was at drama, wow.

I also had a long meeting with AACF again, planning for our praise night which is coming up March 20th. Lotta work, and a long meeting, but we had King Eggrolls. Yum yum. Ok, I’ve talked enough, this post is probably REALLLLLY long.

Man!

I forgot my devotional back in San Francisco!! argh! It’s really good, and it’s called, “A Godward Life” by John Piper. John Piper is a pastor of a church in Minniapolis, MN, and he speaks for seminars and such (as well as at OneDay 2000, where I got to hear him speak on Boasting Only in the Cross). Anyways, he has a lot of really interesting views on living our Christian lives, and some real paradigm shifts. One of which is this:

God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him.

I can’t go into much detail into that, but just thinking about that idea gives me goosebumps! It’s really true that God is glorified in us, when we satisfied living out His purpose for us here on earth. If we’re doing what He’s telling us, He’s the one getting all the glory for it! and it’s great! =)

I almost bought an Avalon u5 over the weekend. Saw one on ebay for about 375$, and I kept bidding with a person till I reached 400$, and I quit. The person got the Avalon u5 for 405$, ahhh well. Maybe next time. =)

The CD project is going well. I have to try and keep on schedule though, which only leaves this last week to do all the guitar recording *sigh* Don’t know how that’s all gonna get done….but I can atleast try. If I’m not talking to you people all that much this week, that’s the reason why.

I’m enjoying my Chet Atkins. I don’t use my Taylor as much as I’d like to anymore, but it’s still a really nice guitar. Think I’ll spend some nice time with it, as we bond and make some beautiful music together for this recording. =)

I’m also starting to work in the Music Dept over at Berean. I was recently moved (well today will be my first day officiall in the music dept). This happened because one of the other people there is retiring. She’s worked there for 27 years or something like that, and that she’s just old now and can’t stand up on her feet all day. So I’m being moved over there from books. I was getting to know the book department really well too. Oh well, I think I like music a lot more anyways. =)

Thinking about buying one of these Franklin Electronic Ebookman from work. We get it at a discount, so it would come out to about 150$ for the 16MB one. Info is at www.franklin.com/ebookman/ Unfortunately, it doesn’t support Palm OS software, so I wouldn’t be able to get all the cool games and such…but it does have the basic PDA features (datebook, address book, to do notes), as well as some new features, like a voice recorder, or the ability to play mp3s on it (though it only has 16MBs of ram! what’s with that! haha). Anyways, I’ll look into that…wish there was a web site that had PDA reviews or something.

268generation

The best place to find out about the 268 Alliance and everything about Passion. Passion is a organization that supports college students in bringing them together for doing the Lord’s work. I attended last years OneDay event out in Memphis, TN, and it was great! (I still have pictures from there too, if you’ve never seen them). Met some great friends there who I may see this summer in NY too. Check out the link. My Link for the day, heheh.
