Charlie Hall @ VoP, and other weekend type things

Well some big news is that I got to see Charlie Hall again at an event called “Heal Our Land”. What a timely event named that. The pastor who organized the whole thing, actually started with that theme name 9 months ago, but only God knew of the incidents that would happen in America, just 4 days prior to the concert of worship.
Charlie did an excellent job as usual, and Lisa came along with me to see. He did some newer stuff (King of Glory, Psalm 126, etc), and also did some other interesting songs like Let My Words Be Few (penned by Redman) and God’s Romance (by Martin Smith of Deliirous). Very interesting that he did God’s Romance, because I haven’t heard him do that one at all before, hah. I knew that I knew the song when we were singing it, but I couldn’t remember where it was from till the part of the bridge where you sing “Holy is the Lord.” Anyways, over all it was a good night, and I got to talk to Charlie a little bit, but couldn’t get a picture because we forgot to check if the camera had film in it, hehe, oh well. =)

I’m learning how to cook! whoooo. I’ve been making things like Potstickers, hotlinks, lap chueng, hamberger helper, and pasta roni. Much better than last year when it was just frozen hambergers and ramen all the time huh? hehe, I’ll continue learning new things how to cook too.

Worship on Sunday went ok. I didn’t think it was spectacular or anything, but I got some compliments on it from people in the congregation. *shrug* All glory to God though. I just didn’t feel like it was the best or I personall wasn’t able to experience God fully through the worship that morning. Maybe my heart was still concerned about Tuesday’s events… I dunno.

Pastor Kevin asked me to babysit the boys on Saturday. Not sure if I’m going to do it yet, guess if he can find someone else, I probably won’t (unless I just drop by some to hang out with them, they are pretty fun, hehe).

AACF BBQ is tommorrow night. Got some drinks for that and stuff. Ahhhhh. Dunno who’s doing worship yet for next week, but I guess that’s something gotta talk to Erica about. Hrm, I brought down my amp here for no reason, other than just to play louder with, oh well. I like the sound of acoustified sound. =) Doesn’t that sound redundant? Ok, well off to go do some reading…

Craziness in NYC

Wow, big events today (well yesterday now) in New York, and Washington DC. The US was attacked by terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon. 4 Planes were hi-jacked, and were purposely crashed into bulidings. Two into each of the Twin Towers. One into the Pentagon, and one just crashed in Pennsilvania. This has been called the worst terrorist attack on US soils, and is being compared to the likes of the Pearl Harbor many decades ago. The attacks were so…surreal. I can’t believe it actually happened here in US soils, and that the Twin Towers are now, just rubble. Thousands of people have died in the buildings, they estimate that about 10,000 people in each of the buildings. It’s sad that 266 people were killed in the airplanes that were crashed as well. All 4 planes were hi-jacked, and were headed towards california. My prayers go out to the families and friends of the ones lost in todays chaos.

I’m sort of at a loss for what to do on Sunday morning. I’m supposedly supposed to lead worship that day. I’m kind of unsure about what’s even going to happen for Sunday morning, so I’ll have to call Pastor Kevin tommorrow morning to see what’s up for that….continue to be in prayer for this nation.

A Neat Passage

Here goes some scripture I read this morning. It seems very timely for a situation that I’m going to. For the full detail of the scripture, read the first chapter of Hosea also, but I really like this 2nd chapter.

Hosea 2

1 “Say of your brothers, `My people,’ and of your sisters, `My loved one.’
2 “Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adulterous look from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.
3 Otherwise I will strip her naked and make her as bare as on the day she was born; I will make her like a desert, turn her into a parched land, and slay her with thirst.
4 I will not show my love to her children, because they are the children of adultery.
5 Their mother has been unfaithful and has conceived them in disgrace. She said, `I will go after my lovers, who give me my food and my water, my wool and my linen, my oil and my drink.’
6 Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes; I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.
7 She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will say, `I will go back to my husband as at first, for then I was better off than now.’
8 She has not acknowledged that I was the one who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil, who lavished on her the silver and gold– which they used for Baal.
9 “Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens, and my new wine when it is ready. I will take back my wool and my linen, intended to cover her nakedness.
10 So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands.
11 I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days–all her appointed feasts.
12 I will ruin her vines and her fig trees, which she said were her pay from her lovers; I will make them a thicket, and wild animals will devour them.
13 I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals; she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot,” declares the LORD.
14 “Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.
15 There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor[1] a door of hope. There she will sing[2] as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
16 “In that day,” declares the LORD, “you will call me `my husband’; you will no longer call me `my master.[3] ‘
17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked.
18 In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so
that all may lie down in safety.
19 I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in[4] righteousness and justice, in[5] love and compassion.
20 I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.
21 “In that day I will respond,” declares the LORD– “I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth;
22 and the earth will respond to the grain, the new wine and oil, and they will respond to Jezreel.[6]
23 I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called `Not my loved one.[7] ‘ I will say to those called `Not my people,[8] ‘ `You are my people’; and they will say, `You are my God.'”

Verses 14-23 are what I really like. Even though Gomer was an adulterous, and did all these bad things, God still loved her, even though there were some things taken away from her. He did those things so that Gomer would seek God, and that God could allure her back to Him. What an interesting way to think…That God allures us and leads us to the desert so that He can speak tenderly to us. This passage sticks out to me because of a sermon I heard by Mike Pilavachi. He talked about how sometimes God leads us to the desert so that we might seek Him and strive after Him even more. Just to know that God thinks of us like this, wanting to allure us, wanting to bethroth us, is just so inviting, so comforting…

Ok yeah, going through some funk stuff right now, so pray for me if you can. Thanks.

The Last Month or So…

Looks like the last update has been just about a month ago. Camp happened like a week after the last update, along with some other interesting facts, that I won’t totally go into, but I will say that good results came out of it.

Camp was a good time, even if it was at Bethany, and people said they were bored all day. Fortunately I was swamped with things to do most of the time, running from the chapel, to chasing and playing with the Moccardini kids, to hanging out and studing for the bible quiz. The bible quiz was so fun, and I had a blast participating in it this year with Lisa and Patrick on my team. My only real complaint about Bethany and camp was that the sound system really stank at Bethany, but oh wells. The way God moved through camp was awesome, and it was really good to see so many of the young ones filled with the Holy Spirit. Wow, good time at camp. =)

Some other tidbits that of interest. School starts Monday, blah. Oh well. I bought a PlayStation 2, what fun. GT3!! whoooo. I finally got a copy of that Stephan King movie “It”. Spooky scary, wow. Ok, think that’s about it for this update. =)

Umm…past couple of weeks entries, hah!

Well a few weeks have now passed since I’ve done this journal. Not sure of the last time I did one, but it was a while ago. I was in SF for a LONG time (from July 3rd, up until last night) and stayed at my parents house. There is almost no food there, but that’s ok, since most of the nights I went out with friends to eat or what not (tuesday night is prayer night, wednesday is praise and prayer, friday is youth group). Big long weeks went by, but fun and adventerous.Time to catch up on highlights.

Hrm, ok, so I can’t access my journal right now, so I don’t remember what exactly happened the last time I updated….oh well. Things I remember happening was Angeline’s Birthday. We went over there and had a fun ol time, and got shaving cream all over her (and all over the street outside of the Lau residence). We wrapped up some of Ango’s own stuff and gave it to her, cuz the present we all chipped in for wasn’t bought yet (and still isn’t! aiya, oh well).
Hrm, what else went on…Janet, Melissa, Gordon, and Justin went to Florida to see Dawn. They just got back yesterday (well Justin two days ago) and they had a good trip, with some fun events and such, and good time hanging out with Dawn. Janet says she got crazier being there, haha. I think we jsut got tamer or something.
