Cheveron Facility, Friday Service, etc. The Long weekend update!

Well some interesting things happened lately. And I haven’t updated my journal in almost a week! geez. Horrible. Anyways. Well here goes a recap of days:

Thursday: Went out with Patrick and Sandra and went golfing at the Presideo Golf Course. Well not real golfing, but we went to the driving range again. Patrick won, and drove the ball the furthest (and he was even using right handed clubs! my clubs! man!). hehe. It was a fun time, and we went through 2 buckets, but man, it’s expensive (12$ a bucket of about 100 balls). Later than night Patrick and I went to worship practice, thou, I was a lil hesistant, since I wasn’t sure if Mel wanted me to play, but I guess she did, cuz she was happy to see me there. Practice went ok, and Pat and I jammed along afterwards, even thou my fingers started to hurt from playing for too long, hah.

Friday: Well Thursday night Janet and Melissa were talking in the chat room and discussed going downtown for shopping. I gave the suggestion to go out to lunch with Lisa, since she works downtown. Friday morning, I decided to go with them too to go shopping, and I ended up driving, cuz they (well Janet) didn’t want to take the bus, hah. So we went downtown to San Francisco Center, but most of us didn’t buy much, other than them two buying two belts from Gap (the flagship one). They kept telling me to buy these one pair of shorts so that they could have the belt, hah! yeah right! So anyways, we met up with Lisa a lil late at her work, at around 1:50-2pm. Went out to eat, haha, oh wait, first we went to some place called, erm…Maybe I won’t mention where we went into (sides, I can’t remember the name too), but we decided it was too expensive and left (haha, and after Melissa and I drank the water too, and after the waitress came by twice to take our orders, doh!) So we went across the street to Crocket Galleria and ate on the 3rd floor. We walked Lisa back to work, and she showed us upstairs at Gibson and Robb and we saw her cubical and everything, and then left, since I had to be at church at 4pm for a meeting with Pastor Sandra. So I dropped Janet and Melissa off at Laurel Village, since they had to meet up with Gordon to call Dawn about their Florida trip. The meeting with Sandra went well, and we got some worship stuff squared away (also in the meeting was Justin, Helen, Eddie, and Patrick). We had worship practice after that, and then it was service. Things were run a little bit differently, and it felt like a short night, but then again, it ended up being long (from after service stuff). So the things we did differently was that we didnt’ have any games (and come to think of it, I dont’ think we did offering either, doh, have to ask Sandra about that…). So service went a lil short, but people left and I really didn’t have to worry about rides too much (come to think about it, not really at all…even thou we had tons of people on Friday…weird!). So anyways, Lisa, Ango, Justin and I went over to Sara’s house that night and just hung out, and talked, and ate spinach dip, yum yum. Lisa also bought some ice cream, thinking it was the flavor she wanted, but she picked up the wrong one, haha. So we sat around and talked about funny stories in our past (mostly ango and lisa did thou, since they have so many), then we made a mad dash for the couch, and ango missed out on all the corner spots, hahaha. We sat on the couch some more and asked some weird/lame “Truth or Truth” questions, like if you had to eat anyone’s barf in Youth group, who’s would you eat, and stuff like that, haha. We left there around 2:30, and I remember going to sleep at around 3:10, whooo.

Saturday: Wow, what a long day. So it was the Cheveron Rec day out a lil north of Albany. We met up at church at around noon, and left around 1pm or a lil before. Got there at 1:45 and went to it. They had things such as ping pong, pool, SHUFFLEBOARD!, bowling, a gymnesium, and a pool. Did a variety of things, and time just flew by. We left the place at around 6pm or 6:30 or so, didnt’ check the time. But as we were leaving, a few of us were “racing” back and stuff, and I popped a tire and got a flat, blah. I didn’t notice till about the turn right after Emeryville as you’re going towards the bridge (right when it splits off to 580 or the Bridge). So I pulled over right after the Grand Ave exit, and before the Toll Bridge things. I started madly calling everyone, but found out that everyone had passed me except Lisa’s car (cuz she took a wrong turn and got lost). So I asked her to check if she had a bolt remover, cuz that’s the only part I needed (I have a jack and stuff, but no bolt remover! blah!!). She did, but she went onto the bridge, cuz she was on 580 and passed us by. So thankfully she came back for us, and turned around at Treasure Island, and worked her way back (man what a long way). So she showed up, and I thought we were saved…but as I took her tool, and loosened the bolts (or so I thought), I raised the jack in anticipation, and THE BOLTS WEREN’T LOOSE!! The bolt remover was too big, and only worked on her tires! So I started calling AAA for Emergency Road Side assistance. They told me that they would have to tell CalTrans and they would come out, because we’re in their “territory” or something of that sort. So we waited around for about an hour, and I called them again, and they put me directly online with CalTrans, and they still didn’t come for another hour or so. So this is like 2 and a half hours of waiting, and I realize, I’m really dumb. When this happened, I never prayed. I never prayed that the bolt remover would fit, or that CalTrans or AAA would get there or anything, so I did, and about 15 minutes later CalTrans finally shows up and helps us out. All through that 3 hours, Gordon’s friends were outside of my car, and just stood around and talked, and I felt so bad that they were there (cuz some of them were supposed to be home for dinner or church or what not, doh). Luckily none of them were mad when I dropped them all off, or they didnt’ see that way. So that was the long adventurous day that reminded me so much of the trip back from Winter Retreat where Pastor Dawn got a flat tire on her uncle’s van. Thanks goes to Lisa, Ango, and Melissa for sticking it with us and hanging out with us for 3 hours.

Sunday: Had to get there early (and pick up justin with my spare tire, hehe) for worship, but before that picked up that flavor of Ice Cream that Lisa liked at Safeway as a thankyou gift to them 3 for staying there with us, hah. So we had worship practice and everything, and things seemed rushed (as the copier wasn’t working and everything else). Worship during service went well, and Pastor Kevin’s message about STARTing anew was good. We had an alter time as a church towards the end, and it was very good, and I think my decision that I was working towards before about churches was answered in that time (if ya know what I’m talking about, heh, then you do, if ya don’t, well, ask me about it sometime). Justin led sunday school and talked about anger, and used some interesting situations (hah, still wondering if Candy Appleseed was supposed to be me, haha. C: She farts, whoooo). After that, we had a leadership meeting with Pastor Sandra about the Youth Group and everything, and went over some Pros and cons about our youth group. One thing that showed up a lot in the cons was our “relationships” with each other. Not like dating wise or what not, but just that we need to be real with one another and be at a level where we can tell each other things, so that we can pray for another person, or really care for one another. After that, some of the guys went to play Basketball at AP Giannini and a few of us went over to my house and sat around and talked (hah, got on a deeper level). Eddie, Gordon, and Eric then came over, and Lisa and Ango drove Janet home, as she had to be home by 6. With the guys and Melissa, we did some more sharing, mostly about our family situations and such, until Eddie left with Gordon, Melissa, and Eric, which just left Justin, Ango, Lisa, and I. We talked still for awhile, debating about subjects and trying to get past our stubborn thoughts about things. They all left at around 10pm, after awhile of talking, good talking, hah.

Monday: Today, whooo. Last day of updates. Well today, I didn’t really do too much, just got some things done that I needed to get done. Went online earlier in the day (at around noon) and a bunch of us were chatting in a Chat Room on IM. Blah, I left after awhile cuz I got mad, because we were talking about not putting each other down, yet it kept happening and junk. After I left, I went off over to the DMV and Costco to get my tire fixed and my front license plate. As I was at the DMV, I saw Pastor Lim, and the Lim family (Yen, and Sandra). Sandra was getting new plates for her car as well. Well I went in and saw a humongous line, and hoped that I wouldn’t have to wait in that, hahaa. I found out that my dad has to go in and get the plates, since he’s the registered owner of the car. That sucks. While I was there, I remembered that I did have a tire receipt from Costco, because I remembered getting tires there last year when I went off to Guitar Center as my tires were being done, haha. So I went back home and found it on my desk in a pile of stuff and headed off to Costco. Since I drove on my tire a little bit, it was rendered useless, so I did have to pay for a new tire, but the cool thing is, is that they measured the width of my treads on the tire, and I only had to pay the difference, which ended up being only 14.06$ muhahaaha. So I have a brand new tire, with no hole or anything, whooooo. Came home, and that’s about it, wheee.

This whole post took me about 40 minutes to write, amazing. =P I musta got distracted a lot (a few people IM’d me in the process of writing this), but also, this was just stinking long. I’ll probably be in SF the whole week, so if you want to go out and hang out during the week, let me know! Cuz I’ll be bored! whooooo!

Weekend Update with Randall Wong

Whooo, another weekend update. And some nice juicy stuff to talk about, hahaha.

Friday was a cool day. I didn’t do much, but it was still good. At Youth Group we had an announcement of a new Youth Pastor for the English congregation, and it was none other than our homegrown PK girl, Pastor Sandra Lim. It’ll be a good time for Sandra to grow and for us to learn under her and be challenged by what God has put on her heart. That was pretty much friday, oh, and the spontaneous time of worship we had afterwards that went on for awhile, but it was really cool, hehe. =) We didn’t leave until around 10:30! Geez!

Saturday was loads of fun again. Almost like a barrel full of monkeys. It started out with taking Justin and Ango to the DMV (and Lisa came along too to hang out). Justin and Ango had to get their permits, cuz Justin’s expired, and Ango needs one. So off we went, but as soon as we got there, Ango didn’t have her slips she needed. We had to drive back to the Lau’s, then back to the DMV, haha. So we waited around a little bit before Justin and Ango went in to take their test, and it took SOOOOOO long of waiting (oh the reason I had to go was because I needed a front license plate after being pulled over the weekend before, but unfortunately they weren’t doing license plate things today, ARGH). So anyways, we sat around for awhile, and Justin and Ango finally took their test, and both passed. I’m 4 for 4! whoohoo
Anyways, afterwards, we went to my house to make cookies! (Since if you read my journal a lot, or were there on Thursday, we didn’t make them on Thursday, so this was to make up for it, whee ) So we made cookies, Chocolate chip (my favorite) and Oatmeal raisin walnut cookies. Yum Yum. Oh, and Lemon Squares. We didn’t eat many there, and brought them over to Sara’s place where we had a college games night kinda thing. It was fun, but we had waaaay too much food. I ate until I was stuffed. They played some funny game called something like “Gab It Up” where it sounds like you speak chineglish or ebonics and you have to realize what phrase you’re saying. Then we played Taboo, guys verses girls, and after a long battle, the guys won, but only by 2. The girls played a VERY good game! (I really mean it! You better not beat me up Lisa! haha).

Sunday, wow, today, Erm…wait, now it’s monday, doh. Thought I would get to do an update on Sunday, but oh well. ANYWAYS, Sunday was slightly long, since it was Father’s Day! It was another Joint service and the Chinese worship team led worship and we were priviledge to have Pastor Lim speak today. Also today was the installation of the new senior pastor, Pastor Au-Yueng. It was very nice and touching. After service 8 of us (Reese, Justin, Gordo, Eric, Tiff, Michelle, and Janet) went to Red Robins, and spent a bundle on lunch, blah. I dropped of Janet, and while on the way, Lisa and Ango called to ask us to hang out, so we went over to there place for a lil and watched The Watcher, and looked as some old family pics of Lisa, Ango, and their brother Lawrance, hehe. Man, kid pictures are so cute! Haha, I love looking at them. I had to get home by 6:30 to go out with my Parents, brother, and Paw-paw for Father’s Day. We went to some crazy frence restaurant that plays movies on a big wall on 21st and Mission. It was pretty interesting, and had some good food (omigosh, the BEST filiot Minget I’ve EVER had. DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL). So good. After Dinner I just jammed on home back to San Jose, wheee. Long weekend. And there it is. =)

Weekend Update with Randy Wong

Whoooooooo, loooooooooooooooooooooong weekend here folks. I headed back to SF on Thursday afternoon, so you’ll get a nice 4 day weekend update (which feels like one of the longest weekends I’ve had in a long time, but enjoyable =) ).

Thursday started out with prep’ing for the Grad Banquet at church the next day. We all got there around 5-5:30ish and started at around 6:30. We finished at around 9:30, which is pretty late, but the skit crew were going through all their planning for the skit and rehersing and all that. It felt like a really long night, with moving a bunch of tables, and chairs and streamers and everything. Hah, we covered the windows too so that it would be more dark, since the light is still pretty bright at 8pm.

Friday was another long day, thou the morning seemed a bit uneventful. I didn’t do anything around the house until I left and met up at church at around 2pm. There I really didn’t do anything except help run errands, since I wasn’t in the skit (well, later I was, but that’s later, hah). Lol, we couldn’t find anything good for the Grad’s for gifts, so we ended up getting chocolate (course it was an executive decision by Janet, since I wasn’t at Walgreens with them, hah).
Prime rib was GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Yum. Thanks Darrel. The salad was awesome too. Darrel made a Chicken Ceasar Salad, yum. The only problem with the night was that there wasn’t many people =(. Probably about…35 people over all I think, when we were expecting about 60 or so. We forgot to put the date on the flyers we sent out, and that may have caused some confusion =( oh well…. The skit went off well, hehe, was pretty funny and everything. Erik and Evelyn got the “mystery” right by gessing Sebastian/Eric as the killer, but someone said they cheated by waiting till they said it or something, hehe. Oh, Justin, Tiff, Melissa, and Helen also sang a song that they’ve been wanting to do (or Tiff has been wanting to do) for a while now called “Dreams I Dream for You” by Avalon. They did a good job =) Helen has a good voice, wow, hits some great highs. Anyways, after clean up that was Friday. =P

Saturday was the long day. Lisa had been planning this day/trip kinda thing for 2 weeks I think, and it went well overall =). We went out to Concord to Justin’s Dad’s place out there, since he has a pool. 4 cars went out there with…18 people I think…don’t remember the total number. We had TONS of food, omigosh, all for 5$ a person too, what a great deal (well minus the drivers, since we drove and used up atleast 5$ worth of gas, hehe). The pool was pretty big, 3 foot to 6 1/2′ deep. There was the sign that said “Maximum Occupancy: 15” that I just laughed at, cuz that pool could fit probably 25-30 people in it…well…low end of that, hah. Almost all I can remember from Saturday was food, food, food. Chicken Wings, Mini-tacos (yum), raviolos, sausage, and fruit, crazy amounts of fruit! haha. We also watched ConAir, prolly one movie I could have done without (Matrix baby! whoooo, ahh well, next time, hah).

Sunday was almost a typical sunday, cept longer. We had joint service with Pastor Au-Yueng speaking for it. Pastor Lim (Steven Lim) was also back in service this week. He got back on Saturday to be with his family here before he and his wife move out to Missouri. At 4pm we were scheduled to go move a bunch of things from all the offices (well except Pastor Valerie’s) because they’re all getting recarpeted today (monday). Wonder what the new carpets will look like and what kinda condition the church will be in when I get back there on friday (dunno if all the stuff will be moved back yet, probably wont….). After all of that we had some pizza and left. I drove Tiff and Ango home and headed down to San Jose. Surprisingly I didn’t go right to sleep (well, I got some rest after lunch and before 4pm), but hung around for a bit in San Jose at the house, and Derek came back down to SJ.

But now I’m bored again. Going to have to find something to do with this week, haha. I’m sure something will come up. =)

More weird dreams and long nights and good weekends. =)

Hah, wow, I’m a sucker. Last night I fell asleep at 9pm watching X-files. I woke up at like 12pm, then went back to sleep until about 9 this morning. How pitiful. Seeing how I usually sleep at like 1-2 on most weeknights in San Jose, it’s pretty funny.

Friday night’s “Sanctuary” went really well! I was kinda surprised, but I absolutely love the team of guys and girls that I work with for Sanctuary, cuz they’re just awesome. Helen plays piano, Ed plays drums, Tiff and Janet sing, and I was leading and playing guitar. We only had one practice, that happened a few hours before, but it went really well. Mel Tang and Pablo spoke for us in the middle of the sets and spoke about Walking in the Spirit. They told about how in everyday situations we should be set on God and be walking in the ways of His truth. Anyways, it was a real blast, and happy, but also sad, to say that it’ll probably be my last time leading “Sanctuary” as I believe Eddie and Tiff are ready to step up to leading for that. Dawn and I always intended for it to be eventually led by their own peers, and next times the time for that. =) It’s a good thing.

Sunday was the usual thing. I was asked to help in a short skit about camp doing a parody of “The Weakest Link”. It was quite interesting and funny, heh, but I’m not really too into that show (watched it maybe once). We got the news that Pastor Valerie’s father passed away this last week. I was thinking how it’s probably really rough on them right now. I believe Valerie is the oldest of the family, and she’s still only about 25-26ish. Her youngest brother is 18 or 19. Can’t imagine losing my Dad at an age like that. =( If ya read this, lift up a prayer for Pastor Valerie and her family.

Now on to my weird dream, hah. I seem to be remembering more of my weird dreams as of lately. From what I remember of the dream, we (a bunch of us from church, Tiff, Janet, Justin, and I remember seeing Millie and Tim too) were at some shopping spree type thing at a Target/Kmart type shop. You were able to pick up up to 500$ worth of stuff and only pay 100$ for it (was with some coupon or something). So we were running around the store trying to find stuff to buy. I remember I ended up buying just like a whole bunch of stuff that I needed for the house in SJ. My price ended up being like 480$. Janet was running around and was trying to find a camera she wanted to buy. The thing is there were some limitations too. Like you couldn’t buy anything over 100$, and you could only pick up a maximum of 2 objects each.
Justin was trying to find all the expensive stuff so that he could return it later and get store credit, LOL. I don’t remember what Millie and Tim were buying, but remember them being there. It was just a funny weird dream, hahah.

What a LOOOOONG weekend!

Gosh, that was a long weekend. Friday till now pretty much. Doh, my phone’s just about outta batteries too cuz too many people play games all day on my phone! Lesse…what all happened….Helped out with worship on Friday and stuff. Brought all my junk stuff (amp, volume pedal, stand, guitar) only used bout half of it though on friday (brought it all for worship practice for next Friday which never happened…I’ll explain later…).
Saturday = The day to do NOTHING. I didn’t do anything Saturday, what a boring day, haha. Oh wait, I went shopping and ran some errands (like buying khaki’s to wear on Sunday cuz I forgot my clothes down in San Jose, hah, oh well). Also went to pick up the tape at Western that some people are supposed to sing at the Grad Banquet, but it ended up being the wrong tape!!! aiya! oh well.
Sunday went smoothly…well somewhat, but was one of the longer days of the weekend. Started with church and worship in the morning. Survived that, it was also Pastor Ed and Rachael Loftin’s last sunday with us. Pastor Ed led worship on sunday also. Anyways, Sunday continued with a cancelled until Monday Night “Sanctuary” practice and we went over to Sara’s after shopping and chilled there and ate A LOT of potstickers, sushi, and pizza, yum. I had to leave early from that (while they were watching Finding Forrestor, a GREAT movie), to head over to San Leandro and kick it with some AACF people at Alison’s BBQ. Yum, what a great way to start off summer, some good food everywhere and just being stuffed with food for 4-5 hours. mmmmm.
Anyways, Monday may have been the longest day. Woke up and headed out to Guitar Center on Memorial Day morning to see what stuff was on sale (they always have big sales on holidays). Found NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. Couldn’t even find their Avalon U5 that I’ve been wanting really bad, argh. Anyways, after that I picked up Justin from his place and headed over to church where we met with Tiff and planned for the Grad Banquet. Eric came, then Janet and Michelle and we worked on that until around 2pm. Went to eat at….Oh, Fresh Choice where we messed around like the lil punk High Schoolers they all are (well cept Justin and Me), but it was fun. Went to Party City, and Target, and that’s about it. Went back to church to work on everything else and for worship practice but Eddie forgot about it and Helen couldn’t come, so we basically scratched practice until Friday afternoon. Ugh, oh well. Went home after a long day at church and with youth and talked on IM till I went to sleep. Slept for like 12 hours last night, ahhhh, what a relaxing night.
